Report: Congress should consider smaller ship, limiting DD(X), CG(X)

Article Abstract:

The Congressional Research Service (CRS) suggests that the Congress should consider building smaller and more affordable ships while perhaps limiting the number of next-generation DD(X) destroyers built and eliminating the CG(X) cruiser. A smaller ship is always less expensive to build, which can also provide key capabilities to the Navy, and hence more of them can be purchased in a time of tight budgets.
