Research house to improve Army helo, UAV parts manufacture

Article Abstract:

Alion Science and Technology has obtained a $5 million contract from the Army Aviation and Missile Command for process technology of replacement parts production for helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The main aim of the contract is to increase the Army aviation readiness by easing the production of hard-to-acquire parts through advanced designs and processing technologies, which will result in reduced costs, shorter lead times and higher quality parts and assemblies.

Army to meet with industry on battle command compatibility

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Army plans to meet with the industry as the service unveils a new version of its Army Battle Command system that enables increased interoperatbility among separate functions. The service is developing an acquisition strategy ahead of awarding software development contracts to assist the Army in further maturing the technology as the service looks to create an eventual joint system with the U.S. Marine Corps.

GD unit wins army ammo deal worth as much as $1.2 billion

Article Abstract:

General Dynamics (GD) Ordnance and Tactical Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics Corporation, has won a five-year contract to supply small-caliber ammunition to the US armed forces. The contract has a total potential value of approximately $1.2 billion and it established GD as a second-source prime contractor for the production of various types of 5.56mm, 7.62mm and .50 caliber ammunition.
