Scipher keeps MediaTags on music pirates on the internet

Article Abstract:

Scipher is to carry out a stock flotation and aims to raise 30 million pounds sterling. The company carries out research, licensing products such as MediaTag, which is geared to reducing internet piracy. MediaTag leaves an imprint on media content when it is copied and transmitted. The displays division offers Micropix, useful for business projection units and e-cinema. Scipher reported an operating loss of 2.7 million pounds sterling for 1999, with revenues if 11.8 million pounds.

The company is based in Israel and its founders have worked in the Israeli armed forces. A loss of 6.5 million pounds sterling is forecast for 1997 by Panmure Gordon, since marketing and development costs will be high, but the company could achieve a profit of 11.9 million pounds sterling the following year.

This should help with a monthly series of CD-Roms. The company is setting up a distribution agreement in the US which will replace a previous agreement with Mindscape.
