Sikorsky defends its Marine One helo against Lockheed skepticism

Article Abstract:

Lockheed Martin Corp. stated that the Sikorsky aircraft is a newly designed helicopter and has just 2000 fight hours and only two engines while a competing helicopter that Lockheed offers the Navy has 55000 fight hours and three engines. In response to Lockheed Martin, the Sikorsky program director stated that the Marine One presidential transport, the VH-92 helicopter is safer and in accordance with the latest and more stringent Federal Aviation Administration safety standards.

General Dynamics touts new facilities as cutting subs costs

Article Abstract:

General Dynamics Corp. has made a multi-million-dollar six month investment in its Quonset, R.I., submarine construction facilities by promising that it will help produce efficiencies that will hasten Virginia Class submarine price cuts to $2 billion a boat. The Navy would move from buying one to two submarines a year provided the price drops to $2 billion a vessel, and also, stated that a doubling of submarines purchase to two a year will happen only by 2012.

Lockheed opens new LCS Systems Integration Center

Article Abstract:

A $4 million Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) Mission Systems Integration Center (MSIC) inaugurated by Lockheed Martin Corp. contains several consoles, each with three electronic screens that display various data .The MSIC would enable the testing of systems for the future LCS and reduce the cost and the risk of producing the LCS.
