Slow start to a speedy assessment

Article Abstract:

The UK Inland Revenue has introduced a new self-assessment system which involves new tax returns forms. These are usually available in February each year, but may not be available until mid-March 1997. This delay affects software companies developing products for businesses and personal tax purposes. Software cannot be released until the tax authorities have released the final version of the tax return form. There are a number of companies involved in software production for tax affairs and they include Intuit and Synergy.
