South African Breweries

Article Abstract:

South African Breweries (SAB) could be affected by the planned sale of a 27% stake by Bevcon, the company's largest stockholder. There has been little interest in acquiring the stake, which indicates that SAB is not a takeover target. The company is listed in London in order to benefit from greater liquidity in capital markets, and most of its profits are made in South African. Earnings are reported in US dollars, and the South African rand looks set to fall in relation to the dollar. The group holds 98% of the beer market in South Africa.
