Takin' care of business

Article Abstract:

Chartered accountants (CAs) who take on musicians as clients need to take on multiple roles when dealing with their freewheeling musician-clients. Quite often, they need to act not just as financial advisers, but as business advisers and career counselors as well. Lorne Sprackman, Mike Veitch and Stephen Pasquale, are among the top CAs in this field. They count among their clients such acts as The Bourbon Tabernacle Choir, Prairie Oyster, The Tragically Hip and the Barenaked Ladies. All three CAs agree that their success depends a lot on their ability to win the trust of musician-clients.

Blueprint for success

Article Abstract:

Chartered accountants planning to set up their own practice should carefully consider several key factors. Before establishing a private practice, accountants should consider the amount of time they are willing to invest and the amount of credit lines they can acquire. They should also consider the location for their practice and the amount of insurance they need. Accountants should determine whether it is more viable to develop a home-based practice or to purchase an existing one. Several tips in establishing a private practice are presented.

Article Abstract:

Business cards say a lot about a business and people should take care that they exude the right messages to prospective clients through their cards. Considerations include fonts used, colors, layouts and hues. For colors, CAs must choose either green, blue or black but never red.
