The development of a multidimensional scale to evaluate motor vehicle dynamic qualities

Article Abstract:

The development and initial validation of a reliable and valid multi-dimensional scale to assess these parameters based upon a technique previously developed to evaluate aircraft handling qualities is described. It is suggested that the scale shows both content and construct validity, being able to distinguish both between broad categories of vehicle and different models of vehicle within a particular category in a consistent and meaningful manner.

A comparative survey of the utility of cross-cockpit linkages and autoflight systems' backfeed to the control inceptors of commercial aircraft

Article Abstract:

A survey on commercial airline pilots was conducted to assess the utility of the communication links in the cockpit of a conventional technology aircraft without interlinked control inceptors. Results indicated that fly-by-wire technology reduced the number and strength of cues available to pilots operating the aircraft. However, control inceptors were used as information source to monitor the progress of flights.

PeopleSize 1.3

Article Abstract:

PeopleSize 1.3 is an anthropometrics package for IBM PCs using Windows and Apple Macintosh. The database has over 200 human dimensions, although population ranges are not adequately covered. Measurements are presented for each body part chosen and on-screen help functions provide useful anatomical terms. The dimensions selected can be stored and used to generate a report.
