The performance of socially responsible mutual funds: incorporating sociopolitical information in portfolio selection

Article Abstract:

The use of inclusion screens affect the performance of socially responsible funds. An analysis of a sample involving 49 mutual funds that claim to screen their investments for corporate performance reveals that socially responsible funds that do not utilize inclusion screens tend to be outperformed by those that utilizes inclusion screens. No relationship was established with regards to the use of social screening and the investment performance of mutual funds.

Berger Funds opens investor center in partnership with major shopping mall

Article Abstract:

Berger Funds, a Denver-based mutual fund company, has unveiled an interactive investor center at Cherry Creek Shopping Center. The facility includes a stock ticker, two flat screen HDTVs and two investor information stations manned by trained investor service representatives. Designed by Communications Arts of Boulder, CO, the investor center marks a new concept in accessible investing, making it easier for investors to conduct business with Berger Funds.

BigfatWow! & CyberXpo to provide mall network

Article Abstract:

BigFatWow! Inc and CyberXpo Inc, two companies that provide free high- speed Internet access and entertainment centers in regional shopping malls, have decided to merge. The combined company, which will be known as BigFatWow! Inc, has 114 installed Internet centers nationwide and plans to exceed 300 installed Internet centers by the end of 2001. It is considered to be one of the fastest growing new media advertising networks in the US.
