Transactions methods among US wholesale nurseries

Article Abstract:

The procedures adopted by landscape plant nurseries are discussed with special emphasis on their transaction methods. These nurseries use several means such exhibitions, door-to-door selling, sales by telephone and direct marketing through the mail. Transactions were found to have been affected by the gross sales of the company, site, type of ownership, outlook on market situation, the kind of distribution method used and length of market presence.

Computerization in the US ornamental nursery industry

Article Abstract:

An analysis is made of the adoption of computer application in the US ornamental nursery industry. The analysis uses a log-linear model to allow the simultaneous examination of computer adoption and application adoption decisions. The size, age, retail sales percentage and the number of employees of a firm are all found to have an effect on the decision for computerization.

Profitability adjustment patterns in international food and consumer product industries

Article Abstract:

The variation in speeds of profitability adjustment and accounting bias by developed country and, firm size for two important agribusiness industries, tobacco and beverage, are investigated. Studies indicated competitive pressures of integrated international markets are less significant in the food and consumer products industry.
