When insider accumulation warrants a closer look

Article Abstract:

The purchase of 192,500 shares at $18.25-$19.50 per share by four Paging Network executives from Jul. 30 to Aug. 1, 1996 is not necessarily a positive indicator for sentiment on the Paging Network stock's future. Chmn. George Marshall Perrin cleared out $21.7-million worth of shares between Jan. and Feb. 1995 even if he purchased 181,000 shares between Jul. 30 and Aug. 1, 1996. In addition, only 15.6% of the proceeds Perrin took from his holdings was reinvested in the purchase. Finally, Pres. Marschel Glenn became a filer in 1996 even if he acquired 10,000 shares.

Trimble Navigation Ltd

Article Abstract:

Trimble Navigation Ltd belongs to the Telecommunications category. The shares were pegged at $18 in Jan 1992 before declining to $6.50 in Oct 1992. Three insiders disposed of 108,000 shares between Nov 4 to Dec 7, 1992 at the $8 to $10.75 price range while another two insiders sold some shares in Aug 1992 at $750. Persistent insider selling has been observed, indicating that caution should be exercised at the moment.
