Turning the tide for the industry

Article Abstract:

1986 has been designated as Industry Year in Great Britain, and its chairman, Sir Geoffrey Chandler, is enthusiastic about the future of British industry. Industry Year 1986 is the culmination of ten years of planning by those who felt Britain's economic betterment would only come through improved attitudes about industry. Chandler and others want to reverse the cultural bias against industry and build better links with education. Employer-employee relations will also be emphasized. A long term objective is a more stable, more prosperous industrial sector resulting in a more economically sound society.

Odometers for crude-oil migration

Article Abstract:

Researchers have discovered that two isomers of differing structural configurations could be used to determine how far petroleum has migrated in the Earth's surface. The two isomers, benzocarbazoles a and c, adsorb minerals at different rates and can be used to trace the path travelled by petroleum from its source to its final accumulation area. Petroleum companies can use the trace molecules to identify new potential petroleum reserves on the Earth's surface.

World's best

Article Abstract:

A list is presented of the 15 best places to live in the world, outside the US. The top score is given to the Costa del Sol in Spain, not because it is so popular with tourists, but because of its natural beauty, good health care, old fashioned villages, low crime rate, and good weather.
