UK: NEW STRATEGY FOR MARS

Article Abstract:

In a bid to grow stronger in the impulse confectionary sector Mars has designed a confectionary unit. The unit is called The Candy Mountain and displays M&M's (small chocolate sweets) characters showing customers the way to the confectionary aisle in supermarkets. Mars is testing The Candy Mountain in Safeway's Reading store at present. Already the store has seen an increase in its confectionary sales to over GB[pound] 250 per week. Mars also suggests retailers should put chocolate brands such as Galaxy by women's magazines as this will increase sales by 9%. Another promotion that Mars is hoping to target is school children buying boxed chocolates for their teachers at the end of term as this could generate additional sales of GB[pound] 11mn.
