Wackenhut disputes union statements on base security

Article Abstract:

Wackenhut Services Inc. (WSI) disputes a statement issued by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) claiming that WSI had lost Army contracts to protect military bases is false. WSI does provide security for certain Army bases under Department of Defense (DOD) contracts and is currently one of the six companies that currently work on the said contracts which DOD is putting up for competitive bidding.

Company delivering quick fix for vulnerable Humvees

Article Abstract:

Tempe, Arizona-based Armor Works, which is the Army's lead supplier for the advanced ceramic plates soldiers wear in body armor, is offering a quick fix for armoring vulnerable Humvees. The company already has retrofitted 10 Humvees in the field, and the Army has placed an order for 1,500 more of the kits, which weigh less than 1,000 pounds and can be installed on a Humvee in less than four hours.

Stryker gun completes static airdrop test

Article Abstract:

The army successfully concluded a static drop test of the stryker mobile gun system (MGS) bringing the vehicle a step closer to airdrop certification. The army was therefore, awarded a contract to General Dynamics Land Systems, which helped to build the MGS in order to experiment the parachute airdrop of the vehicle.
