Who cares about the audit threshold?

Article Abstract:

The announcement of a rise in the audit threshold from its existing level of 1 million-pound sterling to the European Union level of 5.6 million-pound sterling has caused dismay among the accounting firms. The UK group representing 155 small and medium firms was not vocally supportive while the Society of Professional Accountants representing around 1,500 sole practitioners and small firms described the move as 'very good news'.

CPD bandwagon coming your way

The ICAEW is expected to outline its new plan at the start of 2005 for compulsory Continuing Professional Development (CPD) that requires the members to prove to the institute regarding the maintenance of their skills and knowledge. This system aims to enhance the reputation and prestige of the qualification and public confidence in those who opt for it.

CPD goes compulsory

Article Abstract:

Most United Kingdom accountants have been able to avoid having to show that they are carrying out continued professional development. Accountants have been able to avoid the requirement as long as they do not work in "reserved" areas.
