Women mean business

Article Abstract:

The argument for recruiting and/or promoting women workers is growing stronger as demographics indicate that women will constitute almost 50% of the managerial talent pool by the year 2000. It is forecasted that almost 59% of the 1.7 million new jobs expected to be generated in the mid 1990s will require professional and managerial skills. With tremendous opportunities facing women professionals, female members of UK's six major accounting organizations formed 'Women in Accountancy' to address issues relevant to women accountants. Among the topics of interest that the group would like to discuss is the possible issuance of Equal Opportunity Guidelines for the accountancy profession and a call for tax relief for child care facilities.
