1996 NACE/Chevron outstanding achievement awards

Article Abstract:

Leo Charette, director of career services, College of William and Mary, has been awarded the 1996 National Association of College and Employers (NACE)/Chevron achievement award for the Catapult designed by him. The Catapult is an exhaustive world wide web site on the Internet for career services practitioners, college-graduated job hunters and staffing professionals. It links to other web sites and provides information about the career decision making process. NACE took over the Catapult and placed it on the Job Web in December, 1995.

NACE/Chevron Award

Article Abstract:

Nancy Burkett and Leo Charette were chosen as the the 1998 NACE/Chevron awardees for their innovative career services program at the College of William and Mary. Burkett and Charette designed a national internship data base in response to the diverse needs of employers and students. Partnerships with schools and companies were established to provide both an extensive resource for job searchers and recruitment officers. The information service resulted to an Internship Exchange program covering 50 states and 30 foreign countries.

NACE awards for excellence

Article Abstract:

The profiles of five winner and four honorable mention awards of excellence of the National Association of Colleges and Employers, 1996 are presented. Jean Zmolek's 'Interactive Videodisk/Kiosk' is a college winner for audiovisual programs. 'The Passion & the Pride' by Karen Odom Stephens is the employer winner for outstanding student's publications. Martha Wille Gregory's 'Disclosing Abilities' has received an honorable mention for outstanding college audiovisual programs.
