Looking for computer savvy

Article Abstract:

Employers require skilled computer personnel to achieve success in a competitive digital world. Despite the increase in computer-related jobs, the basic problem lies in a lack of suitable candidates. Companies recruiting computer graduates at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, rose by 74% between 1990-91 and 1994-95. The limited number of college program spaces for students interested in computer education is creating a scarcity of skilled candidates. High salaries are luring scientists and engineers to the computer field, which can lead to a scarcity of these professionals in the field of scientific research.

Competencies of the competent recruiter

Article Abstract:

A competent human resource development (HRD) professional is responsible for hiring employees, and should exhibit various skills, attitudes, abilities, knowledge and behavior. The Human Resource Certification Institute has a certification examination which helps in measuring a recruiter's knowledge. The American Society for Training and Development model identifies certain technical, intellectual, business and interpersonal skills for HRD practitioners. Proper training helps in effective hiring. This decreases employee turnover and training costs, and increases employee satisfaction.

The process called 'behavior-based interviewing.'

Article Abstract:

Behavior-based interviewing is a selection process used by staffing professionals to predict a candidate's performance on the job. Its concept is based on the fact that behavior in the long-term is a better indicator than isolated cases. Interviewers must question candidates skillfully to indicate whether they can perform the required job. Candidates, on the other hand, must determine for themselves whether they can fit their own personality and skills with the work environment.
