Can the speed of sound be used for detecting critical states of fluid mixtures?

Article Abstract:

The use of binary and ternary mixtures shows that the ultrasound speed along an isothermisopleth passes through a minimum value in the form of an angular point at critical states. With the help of thermodynamic manipulation of the Newton-Laplace equation, the speed of sound is expressed as a function of the isochoric heat capacity.

A dendronized polymer is a single-molecule glass

Article Abstract:

The thermodynamic and dynamic features of a single dendronized polymer as the number of generations characterizing each dendron increases are described. The findings indicate that the single-molecule glassy system constitutes a building block for creating self-assembled nanoscale objects for advanced applications.

Stresses inside critical nuclei

Article Abstract:

The theory for crystal nucleation based on the thermodynamics of small crystals suspended in a liquid, due to Mullins is reanalyzed. The findings indicate that in the vicinity of the solid-solid critical point where the crystallites are highly compressible, small crystal nuclei are less dense than nuclei.
