Article Abstract:

The financial performance of the chemical industry has improved immensely in 2004 with the overall shipments expected to rise by 9% to a record of $502 billion and the industry production to rise by 5.5%. An analysis of the financial performance of different United States chemical companies is statistically discussed. The industry forecast for the year 2005 looks bright. Rising energy costs have had a negative impact on this industry in 2004. Some of the strong producers of the chemical industry include, petrochemicals, plastics, and chlor-alkalies.

Current environment: seeing the best times since late 1990s

Article Abstract:

The revenue generation of the chemical industry for the year 2004, as reported by the Department of Commerce, is statistically discussed. Since the 1990s, the industry has shown an upward trend in its profits. The first quarter results of 2005, for various chemical companies, industry forecast for the forth coming quarters due to an increase in the industrial production of other sectors, such as the manufacturing companies, construction markets, etc; and the performance of various subdivisions of the chemical industry, are also analyzed.
