Defect enhanced carbon monoxide oxidation at elevated oxygen pressures on a Pt/Al2O3 thin film

Article Abstract:

In situ soft X-ray techniques and ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) temperature-programmed reaction spectroscopy (TRS) are used to study the carbon monoxide oxidation on a well-characterized supported platinum thin film over the 100-1000 K temperature range and in pressures ranging from UHV to 0.01 Torr. These techniques have provided information on the role of defects during CO oxidation on platinum catalyst surfaces.

Molecular mechanisms of propyne oxidation on the Pt(111) surface: in situ soft X-ray studies in pressures of oxygen

Article Abstract:

Oxidation of preadsorbed is characterized on the Pt(111) surface in oxygen at pressures up to 0.009 Torr using fluorescence yield ultrasoft X-ray adsorption methods are discussed. Oxidation of a saturated propyne monolayer in oxygen pressures results in a rapid decrease in carbon coverage over the same temperature range.

Enhanced low-temperature CO oxidation on a stepped platinum surface for oxygen pressure above 10(super -5) Torr

Article Abstract:

The rate of CO oxidation was characterized on the stepped Pt(411) surface for oxygen pressures up to 10(super -5) Torr, over the 100-1000 K temperature range. The experimental results indicated that the surface defects play a key role in increasing the sensitivity of CO oxidation to oxygen pressure.
