Desulfurization reactions on Ni2P(001) and alpha-Mo2C(001) surfaces: Complex role of P and C sites

Article Abstract:

X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and first-principles density-functional calculations were used to study the interaction of thiophene, H2S, and S2 with Ni2P(001), alpha-Mo2C(001), and polycrystalline MoC. Experimental and theoretical studies indicate that the rate-determining step in a hydrodesulfurization (HDS) process is the transformation of adsorbed sulfur into gaseous H2S.

Preparation of supported gold nanoparticles by a modified incipient wetness impregnation method

Article Abstract:

The catalysts with various gold loadings are prepared by the modified impregnation procedure and the nature of the supported gold phase is characterized. The Au/Ti[O.sub.2] catalysts prepared by this modified procedure of impregnation are almost as active as those prepared by deposition-precipitation with urea in the CO oxidation reaction performed at room temperature.

Electron transfer at the gas-solid interface: Reaction of gas-phase MoCl(sub 5) with vanadium oxide supported on silica

Article Abstract:

An electron transfer at the gas-solid interface by means of the reaction at 30 degreeC of gas-phase MoCI(sub 5) with silica-supported vanadium oxide prepared by impregnation and calcinations is studied. The samples are characterized in situ by various spectroscopies, chemical analysis and electron microscopy.
