The European Fine Chemicals Group, which represents fine chemicals companies and national associations, published a position paper entitled "Excipients used in Pharmaceutical Manufacturing". The paper addresses proper enforcement of regulations and standards in excipients for drug manufacturing. The contents of the paper are given.

Proprietary products have granted patents, but as the patents expire, they are subsequently classified as generic or proprietary off-patent products.
