EGYPT: ITALIAN VINAVIL TO BUILD RESINS PLANT

Article Abstract:

Vinavil Egypt, a joint venture of the Italian resins producer Vinavil SpA, the Obegi group and Tibah Chemicals, . The plant will have a capacity of 30,000 tpy, but it can be expanded to 50,000 tpy. Vinavil, which is part of the Mapei group, generates more than 50% of its annual exports of US$ 75mn in the Middle East. It provides resins for the coatings, paper, adhesives and textile industries.

GERMANY: BASF GIVES UP ACRYLIC RESINS TO SOLUTIA

Article Abstract:

BASF has sold to Solutia Inc. its business with Lumitol acrylic resins. For the past three years Solutia has already been producing the solvent-based hydrofunctional acrylic resins for BASF. The resins are used mainly in industrial, automotive refinish and wood coatings.
