JAPAN: UPTURN IN PRINTING INK PRODUCTION

Article Abstract:

In 1999 Japan saw an upturn in the production of printing inks, following a decline in 1998. Production increased from 435.16mn tonnes to 443.7mn tonnes, with that of offset inks rising from 125.5mn tonnes to 134mn tonnes and that of rotogravure printing inks for packaging applications from 113.4mn tonnes to 118.9mn tonnes.

In September 2000, Flint Ink Europe, formerly Manders Premier, is to bring on stream a new sheet printing ink factory in Helmont, Netherlands. Beside Europe, Flint Ink Europe, which is based in Wolverhampton, UK, sells its products in eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
