Effects of ionization, metal cationization and protonation on 2'-deoxyguanosine: Changes on sugar puckering and stability of the N-glycosidic bond

Article Abstract:

The effects of oxidation, protonation and metal cationization with Cu(super +) and Cu(super 2+) on the strength of the N-glycosidic bond in 2'-deoxyguanosine are studied by using quantum chemical calculations. The analysis has shown that these changes might not only influence the hydrolysis mechanism of the N-glycosidic bond but also affect other properties such as N9-C1' chemical shielding tensors.

Microscopic protonation equilibria of oxidized gultathione

Article Abstract:

The first microequilibrium analysis of a tetrabasic acid is presented. A total of 18 protonation microconstants of glutathione disulfide (GSSG) were determined, 16 of them quantitate the overlapping equilibria in acidic medium, where 4 carboxylate sites protonate.

Analysis of the gas states at a liquid/solid interface based on interactions at the microscopic level

Article Abstract:

The analysis of the states of gas accumulated at the liquid/solid interface on the basis of the continuum theory in which the Hamaker constant is used to describe the long-range interaction at the microscopic scale is reported.
