Electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide to hydrocarbons with high faradaic efficiency in LiOH/methanol

Article Abstract:

An investigation of the electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide using a copper electrode in LiOH/methanol-based electrolyte has been conducted. Based on the experiment, it appears that a highly efficient method of converting carbon dioxide to hydrocarbon has been achieved. The procedure, whose future research direction can include solar energy as the source of electricity, has potential uses in the production of fuel from easily-available inexpensive materials.

QM-MM study of nitrite reduction by nitrite reductase of Pseudomonas aeruginosa

Article Abstract:

An intensive investigation was conducted on one electron reduction of nitrite to NO, catalyzed in vivo by a group of enzymes called nitrite reductases (NIRs), due to its processes of denitrification. Results indicated that the catalytic capacity of the enzyme lied mainly on the distal histidines, real guards of the active site cavity.
