Infrared spectroscopy study of aldehydes adsorbed on Rh-Sn bimetallic systems: selective activation of aldehydes by tin

Article Abstract:

Infrared spectra of propionaldehyde was investigated over silica-supported Rh-Sn bimetallic catalysts. Two absorption bands of the carbonyl group were seen at 1670 and 1720/cm and the aldehyde hydrogen (-CH=O) was also seen at 2748 and 2848/cm over the Sn/Rh/SiO2 catalysts on which propionaldehyde was preadsorbed. The adsorbed species observed at 1670/cm in the infrared spectra was found to be one of the most effective surface adsorption states in the selective hydrogenation reaction of carbonyl groups in unsaturated compounds.

Observation of G-LE and LE-LC phase transitions of adsorbed 1-dodecanol monolayer from dynamic surface-tension profiles

Article Abstract:

Two phase transitions, G-LE and LE-LC, of the adsorbed monolayer of the soluble surfactant 1-dodecanol at the air-water interface were observed from the dynamic surface tension measurement by using a pendant bubble tensiometer. Two constant surface-tension (gamma) regions were detected in the dynamic surface-tension gamma(t) profiles of different surfactant concentrations at 20 degrees Celsius.

Effects of surface packing density of interfacial adsorbed monoclonal antibody on the binding of hormonal antigen human chorionic gonadotrophin

Article Abstract:

The interfacial adsorption of a mouse monoclonal antibody at the hydrophilic siliconoxide/water interface was studied by spectroscopic ellipsometry and neutron reflection. The neutron reflection revealed that the formation of a 40 Angstrom units uniform layer from the adsorbed antibody, indicating a flat-on orientation.
