Electrophoretic behavior of ampholytic polymers and nanogels

Article Abstract:

Aqueous redox polymerization was used to synthesize polyampholyte gel particles with hydrodynamic radii [R(sub h)] 132 to 87 nm at an isoelectric point in the presence of sodium dodecylbenzene sulfonate as a surfactant. It was observed that the mobilities of the nanogels agree with those of the terpolymers, despite big difference in their size and in their molar masses.

Mechanisms of proton conductance in polymer electrolyte membranes

Article Abstract:

A comprehensive and systematic theoretical analysis of the proton conductance of polymer electrolyte membranes is presented. A model of heterogeneous membrane structure of non conducting hydrophobic polymer material and water-filled channels within which proton motion takes place is used for the this analysis.

Friction of Gels. 7. Observation of static friction between like-charged gels

Article Abstract:

Two like-charged polyelectrolyte gels create an extensive static friction when they slide over each other in water. It is proved that the like-charged gel interface cannot slip with each other until the shear stress(strain) overcomes a criticality.
