Electrostatic interactions between peptides and the molecular chaperone DnaK

Article Abstract:

The molecular chaperone Dnak prevents intracellular protein misfolding and aggregation by transiently binding with newly synthesized polypeptides and protein-folding intermediates. A simple model representing protein and peptide molecules as roughly spherical particles with charge and with dipole moments is reported. The model generalizes the pair of particles differing in size, charge, and dipole, providing useful estimate of electrostatic effects that can be exploited for control of protein-protein interactions.

Calculation of phase diagrams for aqueous protein solutions

Article Abstract:

The aqueous protein phase equilibria diagrams for protein molecules that are modeled as hard spheres with sticky sites on the surface are calculated. It is observed that the crystallization kinetics are maximized at temperatures slightly exceeding the fluid-fluid critical temperature, where the position of the fluid-fluid plays an important role.

Thermodynamic functions of concentrated protein solutions from phase equilibria

Article Abstract:

In the research conducted the liquid-liquid phase separation with lysozyme is studied. It is suggested that molecular volume and second viral coefficient are important to know the phase behavior of solutions.
