Finite element method simulations of the near-field enhancement at the vicinity of fractal rough metallic surfaces

Article Abstract:

Simulations of the influence of different surface morphologies on electromagnetic field enhancements at the rough surfaces of noble metals, and the evaluations of the optimal conditions for the generation of a surface-enhanced Raman-signal of absorbed species on a metallic substrate are reported. The study revealed that the simulations depict the high inhomogenity of an enhanced electromagnetic field as that both field enhancement and field attenuation near the surface existed.

Surface-enhanced nanoresonance Raman scattering from size- and morphology-controlled gold nanoparticle films

Article Abstract:

The facile and practical preparation method of size- and morphology-controlled gold nanoparticle films on glass substrates is demonstrated. The preparation involves salting-out the colloidal solution with NaClO4 or NaOH. Analysis from surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectrum revealed a higher intensity of SERS signals for the film with larger particles and those films prepared from NaClO4.

Two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy of isotopomers of an Alanine Rich alpha-Helix

Article Abstract:

Two-dimensional infrared spectroscopy of isotopomers of an Alanine Rich alpha-Helix is examined. The experimental results were compared with several model analyses including a matrix diagonalization simulation based on averaged Hamiltonian matrices representing the amide I' vibrator one- and two-exciton manifold of states.
