A spokesperson for the east German Erfurt-based paint maker has confirmed that Texcolor is insolvent. The managing director of the company is under fraud investigation in connection with the machine tool maker FlowTex.

A buyer is being sought for the insolvent east German paint, varnish and plaster producer TexColor. The company employs about 60 staff in Erfurt, where it generated a turnover of EUR 4.8mn in the six months to October 2000. In 1998 EUR 12mn was invested in a modern production facility in Erfurt.

Germany: New owner for Tex-Color
Article Abstract:
Tex-Color, the insolvent German Erfurt-based manufacturer of architectural paints, varnishes, plasters and thermal insulation composites, has been taken over by the Bitter group. Beside the one in eastern Germany, the deal includes a production plant in Lithuania and sales branches in a number of countries. The Bitter group includes the Obernburg-based paint manufacturer Jobi Farbwerke GmbH. The latter has paint production plants also in Poland, Romania and Ukraine and marketing units in more than 20 European countries.
