Wolff Cellulosics is to increase annual production of methyl cellulose to 36,000 tonnes by mid-2003. The world's second-largest producer of methyl cellulose is to make investments of EUR 90mn. Production capacity in Bitterfeld and Bomlitz is to be raised by more than 10,000 tonnes per year. Wolff Cellulosics, which through Wolff Walsrode AG belongs to Bayer AG, serves producers of construction materials and dispersion-based systems.

Bayer is considering to set up a production plant for hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) in Asia. By mid-2002 Bayer is to double HDI production capacity in Leverkusen to 60,000 tpy. The investment involves a new production building and a tank storage.
