GERMANY: JOWAT EXPANDS ABROAD

Article Abstract:

The German Detmold-based company Jowat aims to increase export share from 50%. From September <1999?> the company is to produce adhesives at a joint venture in Malaysia. In March 1999 the company set up a branch in Bangkok, Thailand. The company that has production plants also in Switzerland and the US has set up a sales subsidiary in France. Jowat already has sales subsidiaries in Switzerland, the Netherlands, Italy and Poland. Jowat produces about 30,000 tonnes of adhesives per year. In the 1997/98 fiscal year the company generated a turnover of just under EUR 123mn. About 55% of the output goes to the wood-processing industry.

GERMANY: JOWAT EXPANDING ADHESIVES PRODUCTION

German Detmold-based Jowat is to complete a new production and office building at its east German site in Gobitz by the end of year 2000. The investment exceeds EUR 5mn. The company is planning also another warehouse and production building.

GERMANY: UPGRADE AT WAKOL

Article Abstract:

Following investments in production automation, the German Pirmasens-based adhesives producer Wakol Chemie expects to raise turnover to EUR 26.6mn in year 2000. With 125 staff, the Pirmasens factory produces about 13,000 tonnes of adhesives per year. 65% of the output is installation materials such as carpet adhesives, while 9% of the adhesives to the shoe industry.
