Growth of ternary oxide nanowires by gold-catalyzed vapor-phase evaporation

Article Abstract:

Zn2SnO4 nanowires and Zn2SnO4 diameter-modulated (DM) nanowires are successfully synthesize, accompanied by the formation of ZnO nanowires, via the thermal evaporation of a mixture of ZnO and ZnO2 powders, using gold as a catalyst. Their morphologies and structures were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray spectroscopy, and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy.

Synthetic control of the diameter and length of single crystal semiconductor nanowires

Article Abstract:

A general synthetic method has been developed to control the diameter and length of nanowires during growth. This approach exploits monodisperse nanocluster catalysts to define both the nanowire diameter and the initiation of nanowire elongation during growth by a vapor-liquid-solid mechanism.

Load-independent friction: MoO3 nanocrystal lubricants

Article Abstract:

It is possible for MoO3 nanocrystals with a layered structure to adhere to one sliding interface as a spacer. The nanocrystals then maintain a constant sliding contact area under different loads and produce load-independent friction.
