HUNGARY: TVK PLANNING STYRENE PRODUCTION

Article Abstract:

The Hungarian chemicals group TVK is planning to set up a styrene production plant with an annual capacity of 170,000 tonnes and an LDPE plant in Tiszauivaros. Therefore the capacity of the existing steam cracker is to be raised from 290,000 tpy to 350,000 tpy. TVK is even considering to raise the capacity to 600,000 tpy in cooperation with the oil company the oil and gas company MOL . TVK is already operating an HDPE plant. At the end of 1999 it is to start up a 140,000 tpy PP plant. In marketing, TVK is cooperating with Mobil Chemicals.

BELGIUM: BASF RAISES POLYETHEROL PRODUCTION

Article Abstract:

BASF has increased its European production capacity for polyetherol to 215,000 tpy by raising capacity in Antwerp by 70,000 tpy. The Belgian plant is supplied with propylene oxide from the Basell plant in Dutch Moerdijk.
