Harnessing ICl reduction processes for synthesis of different BEDT-TTF-based molecular conductors

Article Abstract:

The ICl reduction process, used to form I(sub 3)(super -), I(sub 2)Cl(super -), and ICl(sub 2)(super -) anions and prepare different molecular conductors based on trihalide anions and bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (BEDT-TTF) is described. It is seen that molecular conductors reveal semiconducting and metallic transport properties and that in the reaction media with polarity less than 18.4 D only the I(sub 3)(super -) anion is incorporated in the BEDT-TTF-based molecular crystals.

Sum frequency generation microscopy of microcontact-printed mixed self-assembled monolayers

Article Abstract:

The sum frequency generation imaging microscopy (SFGIM) is used to image the chemically distinct regions of a microcontact-printed monolayer surface. The SFGIM technique is able to obtain a vibrational spectrum at each point on the surface and demonstrate that the stamped area has a significant mixing with the molecules deposited from the backfilling solution.

New optical absorption band resulting from the organization of self-assembled monolayers of organic thiols on gold

Article Abstract:

Empirical evidence supporting the existence of a new optical absorption band observed when monolayers of alkylthiol are self-assembled on gold substrate is presented. The intensity of the new band has correlated well with the density of molecules and the quality of the organization of the monolayer.
