Heterogeneous surface crystallization observed in undercooled water

Article Abstract:

A laboratory observation of higher freezing temperatures is reported when an ice-forming nucleus is near the surface of an undercooled water drop than when the nucleus is immersed in the drop. The analysis shows the jump frequency of molecules from the liquid to solid may be greatly enhanced at the interface.

Redox-induced surface stress of polypyrrole-based actuators

Article Abstract:

Surface stress results for dodecyl benzenesulfonate-doped polypyrrole (PPy(DBS)) films actuated by cyclic voltammetry in aqueous solutions are presented. The effect of long-term cycling on the mechanical transformation ability of PPy(DBS) films in both surfactant and halide-based electrolytes is discussed.

Kinetics of nonisothermal polymer crystallization

Article Abstract:

A cluster size distribution model is adopted to investigate the kinetics of nonisothermal polymer crystallization. The time dependencies of polymer concentrations, number and size of crystals and crytsallinity are presented for different cooling rates.
