Hierarchical self-assembly of silver nanocluster arrays on triblock copolymer templates

Article Abstract:

A study reports on a simple, hierarchical approach for obtaining self-assembled silver nanocluster linear arrays where Silver nanoclusters are obliquely deposited onto the poly(styrene-b-butadiene-b-styrene) (SBS) triblock copolymer templates at low coverage. Optical absorption spectra reveal that the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) of the silver nanocluster linear arrays manifests a red shift of the ~21.4 nm compared to the SPR absorption of silver nanoclusters deposited on a fused quartz substrate.

Electrodynamic investigations of conduction processes in humid microcrystalline cellulose tablets

Article Abstract:

The conduction mechanism in microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) tablets at varying relative humidity is investigated by using the techniques of low frequency dielectric spectroscopy and transient current analysis at room temperature. The experimentally observed decrease in charge carrier mobility with increasing moisture content shows that protons and H(sub 3)O(super +) ions that are being blocked at empty 6-OH sites also contribute to the charge transport process in cellulose at low moisture contents.

Nucleation behavior of n-alkane microdroplets in an electrodynamic balance

Article Abstract:

The nucleation behavior of n-alkane droplets with carbon numbers ranging from 14 to 17 is observed in an electrodynamic balance. The changes in the elastic light-scattering pattern of the single levitated microdroplets indicate the phase transition from liquid to solid. Cooling/heating experiments showed larger supercooling temperatures than expected for alkane droplets with an alkane/air interface.
