In situ investigation of the nature of the active surface of a vanadyl pyrophosphate catalyst during n-butane oxidation to maleic anhydride

Article Abstract:

In situ X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and in situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) was applied to study the active surface of vanadium phosphorus oxide (VPO) catalysts in the course of the oxidation of n-butane to maleic anhydride (MA). It elucidates that the surface electronic conductivity and probes the ground state of the Near Edge X-ray Adsorption Fine Structure (NEXAFS) spectra.

STM study of multiple bonding configurations and mechanism of 1,3-cyclohexadiene attachment on Si(100)-2x1

Article Abstract:

Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) is used to examine reactions of 1,3-cyclohexadiene with silicon dimers on bare silicon (100) surface. In addition to the intradimer [2+2] and [4+2] reaction products, two different [2+2] conformers are identified.

Inhibition of the [2+2] cycloaddition: maleic anhydride on Si(100)-2x1

Article Abstract:

A study of chemisorption of maleic anhydride on Si(100)-2x1 at room temperature is done using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). A local rearrangement of unsaturated silicon dimers is induced by chemisorption of the organic molecules.
