Independents ally for competitive edge

Article Abstract:

Independent fertilizer and agricultural chemical dealers in several Western states have merged or formed alliances to be able to compete with larger companies. One of the most successful western alliances is the Independent Agribusiness Professionals (IAP), which was formed in 1991 by 11 chemical dealers from Arizona and California. As of 2000, IAP has 27 members, with sales ranging from $10 million to $110 million. One recent alliance is WestLink Ag, which was formed in Feb 2000 through a merger of two smaller alliances, namely Independent Distribution Enterprises and Assoc and FERT-I-CHEM Inc.

Structures and interaction energies of nucleic acid base-amino acid complexes: methylcytosines-acrylamide model

Article Abstract:

Results show that the interaction energy between acrylamide and methyl cytosines is higher than that of methyl uracil and acrylamide. Importance of this relationship in protein-nucleic acid recognition is discussed.
