Theory of retention in reversed phase liquid chromatography with ternary mobile phases

Article Abstract:

A partition model of retention is developed for reversed phase liquid chromatography with multicomponent mobile phases and equations for the retention and selectivity in multicomponent mobile phases are derived using methods of statistical thermodynamics. The application of a ternary mobile phase augments considerably a chance to achieve the optimal values of retention and selectivity and the proposed equations can be used to continuously control these factors.

The (p,T) thermodynamic behavior of n-alkanoic acids adsorbed in silicate glass: characterization of the phase transitions

Article Abstract:

Results support that the after-melting effect of acid molecules in glass powder mixtures is consistent with the Langmuir-Blodgett-like films of alkanoic acids adsorbed onto a glass surface. Data further indicate that this phenomenon is influenced by the number of carbon atoms in alkanoic acids.

Thermodynamic modeling of the phase behavior of binary systems of ionic liquids and carbon dioxide with the group contribution equation of state

Article Abstract:

The application of the group contribution equation of state (GC-EOS) to predict the phase equilibria of binary systems consisting of ionic liquids of the homologous families is described.
