LA RENTABILITE DE LA CHIMIE FINE

Article Abstract:

In 1997, the 116 companies in the Belgian chemicals sector, which represents 60% of the members of F dichem, make a turnover of BFr 848bn, and a profit of BFr 44bn. Since 1994, the payroll costs share, which represented 43.5% in 1997, the financial costs share which represented 10.4%, and depreciation share which represented 24.9% of the gross added value has decreased while the company tax share of 6.4%, and the net profit have increased. The sector's profitability (ratio of net profit to turnover) came to 5.2% in 1997, compared with 3.9% in 1994.

CMA changes name

Article Abstract:

The Chemical Manufacturers Assn, the organization responsible for promoting the chemical industry in the US, has decided to adopt a new name in Jun 2000. The American Chemistry Council decided on its new name after conducting an 18-month study of the public's and its members' perception of the organization. The council has also developed a program that aims to communicate the importance of the industry to society, the safety of its products and its various programs.
