Large-scale synthesis and microstructure of SnO(sub 2) nanowires coated with quantum-sized ZnO nanocrystals on a mesh substrate

Article Abstract:

Thermal evaporation of SnO powder and a mixture of basic ZnCO(sub 3) and graphite powders were used to synthesize large quantity of single-crystal SnO(sub 2) nanowires coated with quantum-sized ZnO nanocrystals (nc-ZnO/SnO(sub 2) nanowires), that were collected by stainless steel mesh. Results reveal that tetragonal structured SnO(sub 2) nanowires were obtained, with surfaces coated with single-layer ZnO nanocrystals with a diameter below 5nm.

Temperature effects on the structural and dynamical properties of the Zn(II)-water complex in aqueous solution: A QM/MM molecular dynamics study

Article Abstract:

An ab initio quantum mechanical/molecular mechanical (QA/MM) molecular dynamics (MD) simulations was performed at an elevated temperature to study the temperature effects on the structural and dynamical properties of a Zn(II)-water complex in aqueous solution. Within the simulation time, no first shell was observed in the QM/MM simulation even at 90 degrees centigrade.

Flowerlike ZnO nanostructures via hexamethylenetetramine-assisted thermolysis of zinc-ethylenediamine complex

Article Abstract:

Flowerlike ZnO nanostructures (FZNs) are deposited on Si substrate from aqueous solution by the hexamethylenetetramine (HMT)-assisted thermolysis of zinc-ethylenediamine (en) complex at low temperature. The flower petals constructed by many well-aligned nanorods possess the typical tapering feature with tip sizes of 30-50 nm.
