Macroporous polymer thin film prepared from temporarily stabilized water-in-oil emulsion

Article Abstract:

A simple and convenient method is presented for fabricating ordered porous structure in a polymeric thin film, where a temporarily stabilized water-in-oil emulsion is sued for the preparation of porous structure. The findings reveal that the polymer content in the polymer solution phase and the compositional ratio of the aqueous phase to the polymer solution phase is optimized to fabricate well-ordered structures.

Determination of the parameters controlling swelling of chemically cross-linked pH-sensitive poly(N-vinylimidazole) hydrogels

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine the pH response of poly(N-vinylimidazole (PVI) gels under varying ionic strengths. The swelling (S) was found to be slower with [H.sub.2]S[O.sub.4] as protonating acid but in aqueous solutions with larger pH between 4 and 12, PVI is practically neutral , and S increased with increasing ionic strength showing a salting in effect.

Thermodynamics of water vapor sorption in poly(ethylene oxide) poly (butylene terephthalate) block copolymers

Article Abstract:

The influence of the composition of poly(ethylene oxide)- poly (butylene terephthalate) (PEO-PBT) block copolymers on the stability of water vapor and the thermodynamic quantities governing the solubility of water vapor in these polymers are studied. PEO-PBT copolymers reveal a high solubility for water vapor, which is completely determined by the PEO segment.
