Metallic nature and surface diffusion of CO adsorbed on Ru nanoparticles in aqueous media: A (super 13)C NMR study

Article Abstract:

The first observation of the (super 13)C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR) of (super 13)CO, adsorbed from the (super CO) saturated 0.5M sulfuric acid solutions, onto the surfaces of commercial Ru-black nanoparticles is reported. The results indicates that the CO adsorption bond is weaker on Ru as compared to either Pt or Pd and is supported by a reduction in the activation energy for CO diffusion on Ru versus either Pt or Pd nanoparticles.

DFT study of formaldehyde and methanol synthesis from CO and H2 on Ni(111)

Article Abstract:

A density-functional-theory study of formaldehyde and methanol synthesis from CO an H2 on a Ni catalyst is presented. The study concluded that CO hydrogenation is the most likely reaction to happen when CO and H are coadsorbed on Ni(111), as it is well favored over dissociation of CO, and somewhat more likely to happen than CO desorption.

In situ infrared study of carbon monoxide adsorbed onto commercial fuel-cell-grade carbon-supported platinum nanoparticles: correlation with (super 13)C NMR results

Article Abstract:

Carbon monoxide chemisorbed via methanol dissociative chemisorption onto commercial fuel-cell-grade carbon-supported nanoscale platinum electrocatalysts is investigated by in situ subtractively normalized interfacial Fourier transfrom infrared reflectance spectroscopy (SNIFTIRS).
