Multifrequency high-field electron paramagnetic resonance characterization of the peroxyl radical location in horse heart myoglobin oxidized by H2O2

Article Abstract:

9-287 GHz electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy is used to examine the location of peroxyl radical in horse heart myoglobin (Mb), oxidized with H2O2. The high-field EPR spectra of the Mb peroxyl radical are simulated using a Hamiltonian, which describes the exchange and dipolar interaction between an oxoferryl iron and a protein radical.

Characterization of Fe-MCM-41 molecular sieves with incorporated carotenoids by multifrequency electron paramagnetic resonance

Article Abstract:

The experiments were done to study the Fe(III)-MCM-41 mesoporous molecular sieves with incorporated carotenoids by using Multifrequency electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. The results indicate that the extraframework iron species at the surface of the mesopores are responsible for carotenoid oxidation in molecular sieves.

Interaction of cartenoids and Cu(super 2+) in Cu-MCM-41: distance-dependent reversible electron transfer

Article Abstract:

Carotenoids (Car), beta-Carotene, 8'-apo-beta-caroten-8'-al, and canthaxanthin, incorporated into activated Cu-MCM-41 are examined by UV/vis and EPR spectroscopies. It was found that the formation of a complex results in distortion of the all-trans carotenoid geometry and a tetragonal geometry for Cu(super 2+).
