NOx reduction from diesel emissions over a nontransition metal zeolite catalyst: a mechanistic study using FTIR spectroscopy

Article Abstract:

The FTIR and time-resolved (rapid scan) FTIR studies of the chemistry of acetaldehyde on BaNa-Y zeolite are presented. The interaction of acetaldehyde with NO2 and an elucidation of the mechanism involved in the formation of N2 from these species and also the chemistry of acetic acid and nitromethane on BaNa-Y in the presence of NO2 are discussed.

H/D exchange of amines and acetonitrile over transition metal catalysts

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to analyze the H/D exchange of amines and acetonitrile over transition metal catalysts in a fixed-bed microflow reactor. The metal catalysts were prepared by ion exchange while the primary H/D exchange was carried out at 75 degrees C. Experimental results indicated that the H/D exchange of acetonitrile supported an adsorption complex that could be minority species. Findings also showed that primary amines were adsorbed on metal surfaces through the nitrogen lone pair.
