Negatively charged halide adducts of homochiral serine octamers

Article Abstract:

Negatively charged halide adducts of serine octamers, (Ser8+2Cl)2- and (Ser8+2Br)2-, appear as magic number clusters in the negative ion electrospray mass spectra of solutions containing serine and the halide. The discovery of negatively charged halide adducts of homochiral serine octamers connects the chemistry of the ionic species of both polarities, the cations (Ser8+2Cl)2 and (Ser8+Na)+ and the anions (Ser8+2Cl)2- and (Ser8+2Br)2-, and points to their distinctive properties as being characteristics of the still-undiscovered neutral serine octamer.

Optimum hole-opening condition for cisplatin incorporation in single-wall carbon nanohorns and its release

Article Abstract:

An anticancer drug, cisplatin (CDDP) was enclosed inside single-wall carbon nanohorns (SWNH) with holes opened by being heated from room temperature to a target temperature (475-580 degree Celsius) in flowing dry air, with an increase rate of 1 degree Celsius/min. The optimum target temperature was discovered to be 500 degree Celsius, in terms of the least amount of CDDP deposited outside the SWNH, when the quantity of CDDP encapsulated inside the SWNH was 12 wt %.

Cisplatin- DNA adducts by vibrational circular dichroism spectroscopy: structure and isomerization of d (CCTG*G*TCC).d (GGACCAGG) intrastand cross-linked by cisplatin

Article Abstract:

The first observation of a platinated DNA adduct by vibrational circular dichroism (VCD) spectroscopy for which the octamer duplex d(CCTG*G*TCC).d(GGACCAGG) examined in aqueous solution is presented. The investigation demonstrated that VCD is very sensitive to DNA structure modified by complex formation with cisplatin and may become more widely applicable for other similar applications.
