Photoinduced cooperative charge transfer in low-dimensional organic crystals

Article Abstract:

The cooperative charge transfer among constructive molecules in organic crystals of tetrathiafulvalene-chloranil induced by the irradiation of a laser pulse with an 80-fs width are studied. It is shown that the photoinduced neutral-ionic phase transition is bidirectional and that the photoinjected localized excited states grow into the macroscopic metastable phase domain within 1 ns. The photoconverted fraction and the growth dynamics of the localized photoexcited species into the macroscopic domain are also dependent on the excitation intensity.

Charge separation in photosynthetic reaction centers

Article Abstract:

Research was conducted to examine charge separation in photosynthetic reaction centers. Quantum chemical models were used to study the structural influences on the direction of electron transfer in the charge separation process of the photosynthetic reaction centers of Rhodopseudomonas viridis and Rhodobacter sphaeroides. Results suggest that structural modifications have evolved to optimize hydrogen bonding and the electronic factor for the A branch at the same time.

Photoinduced charge separation and photovoltaic properties of polypyrrole having pendant bipyridinium electron acceptor groups

Article Abstract:

It has been possible to make a detailed study of photoinduced charge separation, photoconductivity and photovoltaic properties of p-Pyr-V2+-Me and p-Pyr-V2+-H in the solid-state. The photoinduced formation of long-lived charge-separated species was revealed.
